“The best thing to hold onto in life is each other” -AUDREY HEPBURN
Eight is bikes, and bats, and balls
It’s running and skipping down classroom halls
Eight brings changes, like size two feet
A well-loved room that never looks neat
It’s Nerf guns and Legos galore
And begging to buy something at the nearest toy store
It’s snuggling with dad to watch the game
And day-dreaming of big league fame
It’s tucking you in with stuffed animals galore
While wistfully knowing they’ll soon be no more
It’s whiffle ball and time up in Maine
And family trips by car or by plane
Hugs and kisses each morning for minutes on end
Or waving goodbye as the bus rounds the bend
It’s reading long books alone and out loud
Or working on drawing, of which you are proud
It’s going to camp for your first time away
Or having an old friend over to play
Time at the playground still can’t be beat
Or going to Gil’s to pick out a treat
Eight will bring new memories: much joy and some tears
Oh how in the future I’ll long for these years…
Wishing you the happiest of birthdays Tom! February 7th will always be a great day.
