The Best Balsamic Vinaigrette

I hate buying salad dressing.  It’s expensive, and many are loaded with icky preservatives like high fructose corn syrup.  Dressing is so simple to make, and I find balsamic vinaigrette to be the most versatile type you can make.

Here is my favorite recipe.  I would love your ideas too, as you can never have too much salad dressing!

-A dash of pepper

-1/4 tsp. kosher salt

-1 tsp. good dijon mustard (I use Maille)

-2 Tbsp good maple syrup or honey

-4 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar

-1/2 cup of good olive oil

Also, a favorite modification is to omit the maple syrup or honey and add minced garlic instead.  If you do that, add a little extra olive oil.

Dressing is also an easy hostess or teacher gift.  You can make it in a large mason jar and add a ribbon.  If you are someone who likes to make jams, dressings, and other goodies, consider having your own labels made.  My favorite site is http://www.myownlabels.com

Have fun!
