Ice cream is great, but even better when you top it with sauce. Hot fudge is delicious too, but it’s a bit more complicated to make. Making chocolate sauce only takes a few minutes and stores well in the fridge or freezer for a few months. My kids love having it around for making sundaes. It’s also a great addition to any dinner party when you don’t have time to make dessert. I like to buy an assortment of pints and put this out in my little glass pitcher.
Ingredients:
14 ounce can of sweetened condensed milk
12 ounces of chocolate chips. Use good chocolate. I like Ghirardelli, and I tend to keep a bunch on hand. You can use semisweet, dark chocolate, or milk chocolate depending on what you like!
2/3-3/4 cup of water. Start with 2/3. Add a bit more if it seems too thick for you.
1/2 tsp. salt. I prefer kosher Salt but use what you have!
1 TBSP pure vanilla extract (I love that brand!)
Mix all of this together in an all-clad saucepan over low heat until smooth.
Remove from burner and stir in 1 TBSP. of vanilla. Serve, or cool and store.
YUM!
Enjoy.
