A Guide To Organizing Your Kitchen: We recently finished up a beautiful kitchen refresh project. It was the perfect opportunity to spend some time reorganizing the space.

After 16 years of heavy usage, this kitchen needed new life put into it. We swapped outdated granite countertops for gorgeous new white Calcutta quartz ones and painted the cabinets with Chantilly Lace from Benjamin Moore. Next, we added gorgeous new hardware in a brushed brass. We went with these knobs and these drawer pulls and are loving this refreshing change.

It was the perfect time to reorganize the space and set it up for maximum usage. After all, most of us spend hours in the kitchen cooking and entertaining (as hard as we try, everyone wants to hang out there!).

In putting this space back together, here are the items we added to organize it better.

Contact paper to protect the shelves

Because we painted the cabinets instead of replacing them, the hope is to get 5-7 more years out of them before replacing them. Hopefully you saw my Instagram reel about the faux wood paper my husband found and carefully applied. It was SUCH a great solution to maintain the natural look (you seriously cannot tell it’s not wood) and protect the surfaces.

Clear bins to organize various spaces

We purchased bins in two sizes to organize various things like the coffee drawer and the upper-level cabinets. These larger bins are great for the snack drawer and the smaller ones are good for the coffee drawer and the baking cabinet.

See how nice this coffee and tea drawer looks?

You can see my new and improved upper cabinet here which house oils and larger spice containers.

Standing rack

A rack for things like cutting boards or platters. Previously, the cutting boards were all in a drawer and it was a bit of a pain to get them out. This standing rack keeps them neat and easy to access.

Silverware holder

A new silverware holder will freshen up your cutlery drawer. We are partial to these bamboo ones as they are sturdy and well made. Other people prefer plastic ones like this that can easily be washed down (we do wipe the bamboo one with a damp cloth to clean it).

Dish drying mat

A dish drying mat off to the side of the sink like this one. Sometimes there are things you want to let air dry, like wine glasses or pots and pans. This mat folds up neatly and can be stored away. We also love these racks, perfect for apartment living where you might not even have a dishwasher.

Racks for frying pans and lids

A new rack for frying pans keeps them neatly organized off the bottom of the cabinet and makes them easy to access.

Additionally, a pull-out rack like this keeps all of your lids neatly together.

Paper towel holder

There’s no need to have loose rolls lying around. A lot of people overlook this small gadget, but it just makes your counter look more organized! We have this one but also really like this one.

Cannisters & Labels

It’s also a great time to update your cannisters. We are huge fans of the OXO Good Grips Pop ones that come in many sets and options. As you can see by mine, I also ordered custom labels from Etsy which I love. Those are not the exact labels I bought because the shop closed where I found them, but they have lots of great options to choose from there.

Spice drawer upgrade

Our spice drawer used to be a total mess. This spice rack is probably my favorite thing in the entire kitchen. We ordered this set of spice jars as well as these custom labels and voila, things look so much better!

Food storage container lid rack

Trying to corral your Tupperware storage containers can be a challenge too. Take the time to get this best-selling lid organizer to help keep things in order.

A small vaccuum

Congratulations on taking the time to neaten things up. Even if you’ve only implemented half of these ideas, your kitchen is surely looking better. Now it’s time to keep those drawers and cabinets clean! I recommend keeping a small handheld vacuum on hand so that you can occasionally tidy your drawers up. Here’s another one people really like.

I hope this guide to organizing your kitchen was helpful! What other ideas do you have for organizing this space?
