Delicious Chicken Wings

A few friends have asked me for our chicken wing recipe.  My husband found the original recipe on allrecipes.com, and he deserves the credit for making this delicious dish a part of our regular repertoire (he’s actually a great cook, but running his own company leaves little time for him to get into the kitchen).  Our entire family loves these, and I’ve modified the recipe just a little.  They are also great to make at this time of year, because we cannot even see our grill with all of this snow, let alone get to it!

Delicious (and easy) Baked Chicken Wings (with credit to allrecipes.com)

+2 dozen (or more, depending on the crowd) chicken wings.  Go for party wings, not the bigger wings.  Ask your grocer if you’re not sure.

+1 cup whole wheat flour (you might as well make them a little healthier, and your kids will have no idea)

+3/4 tsp. cayenne pepper powder

+3/4 tsp. garlic powder

+1/2 tsp. kosher salt

+1/2 c. melted butter

+1 c. Frank’s Red Hot Sauce (or other comparable brand)

Directions:

1. Mix the following in a gallon size bag: flour, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and salt.  Shake to mix well, and place bag into the refrigerator for at least an hour.

2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

3. Line a baking sheet with heavy duty aluminum foil.  Coat evenly with cooking spray. Heavy duty foil is very sturdy, so using this decreases your chances of it ripping when you go to flip the wings halfway through cooking them.  Coat evenly with cooking spray. Stir melted butter and Frank’s together in a small stove top saucepan.  Cool a bit, then dip wings into the mixture, coating them evenly, and place them on the baking sheet.  Bake in the oven for about 45 minutes, turning them halfway through.  I recommend using a metal spatula and carefully turning each wing, so as to avoid the skin coming off when you turn them.

Serve on a big platter with tongs!
