I’m here to help you choose furniture and decor that is functional, comfortable, and stylish. This guide is intended to help you design your perfect outdoor oasis. There are so many options that it can be overwhelming, so by narrowing it down, I hope it makes choosing things easier. Covid taught many of us the importance of investing more in our homes, both inside and out. We all deserve spaces we can enjoy alone at home or when we are entertaining others. My shopping guide provides all the links you need so you can shop directly from this post. One word of caution: outdoor items can take some time to arrive, and many often go out of stock quickly. Order early, and plan for possible delays.
One last thing: you deserve it! I spent way too many summers looking out at an empty deck. It makes such a difference to enjoy your coffee outside in the morning or to have people over for a cookout and have a pretty space to enjoy.
Outdoor Dining Sets
There are certainly many style options available when you are looking at outdoor dining sets. You can also find sets at varying price points, so don’t let budget deter you. I would consider pushing your budget a little, as I have found that the higher the quality, the better your items will do in winter weather if that’s an issue. Metal and teak are my favorite looks, but keep comfort in mind too. I’ve linked several sets for you below.

Outdoor Furniture
Last year I finally bought some outdoor furniture and I am so glad I splurged. It felt so decadent at the time, but I’ve truly never looked back! I cannot wait to be using it again. There are so many styles to choose from. From your personal taste to the style and size of your outdoor space, it’s important to settle on a look that is going to work for you. If you’re going to be spending a lot of time out there reading and relaxing, comfort is going to matter. Something like this or this gives more of an informal vibe, while this feels more formal and upright to me. Will your furniture be on a patio or a deck? You could consider putting it down on an outdoor rug to ground the space if you think it would like nice and add an extra level of comfort. Just be aware that on a deck it may leave an outline from the sun.
You should also consider annual maintenance on whatever furniture you buy. Mine has cushions, so I will need to clean them every year (I have heard using a power washer is best, FYI!)

Indoor / Outdoor Pillows
Now that you’ve picked out your furniture, it’s time to accessorize with some weather-friendly pillows. Here are some of my favorites. The nice thing about these is that you can power wash them when needed, and let them dry in the sun. If you can get them inside before nasty weather, try and do so to prolong keeping them in great condition. If you forget, no worries, they are designed to be durable.

Ceramic Stools (Or Side Tables)
I discovered these last year for my own home and I love them because they have a double use. They can be used as stools or as side table. They’re also really attractive and sturdy. Obviously, you do need to be carefully with them on patios because they could break if not handled gently. They are so easy to clean, and come in many different designs and colors.

Outdoor Accessories
Accessories are the final touches to make your outside space look extra beautiful. A few of them will go a long way towards making your outdoor haven feel truly yours. Outdoor wreaths can help enhance the front (or back) of your home and make it feel instantly more inviting. Pretty lighting in the form of lanterns or string lights can add to the mood on a beautiful summer evening. Attractive planters become permanent fixtures outside in the warmer months, and can look great on either side of a path or in the corners of your deck or patio. Citronella candles will deter bugs, and a nice set of melamine dishes makes it easier to serve up dinner outside!
