That’s it: even if there is still snow on my front lawn and I had to scrape off my windshield on April 9, I’m taking my mind off the cold by shopping, because it will be nice outside before we know it! Here are a few items sure to spruce up your summer wardrobe and get you excited for warmer days ahead!
1. A stylish beach hat. Most of us are careful about the sun, but we want to look nice too. You might just have to splurge for one of these. Made in Texas by Barbara Cobb, these are fun and practical, and the fabric choices are gorgeous!
2. A cute cover-up. I’ve always loved Boden’s selections. This year’s casual linen tunic comes in array of patterns (click on the picture below to see all of the choices!). I already own a few from past seasons, and wear them over a bathing suit with flip-flops or even dress them up and go out to dinner after with white pants. These are easy to wash and line dry as well. I also love this geometric blue and pink printed tunic from La Blanca.
3. Some really pretty t-shirts. For a long time when my kids were young, I never invested in anything more than basic tees from the Gap outlet because I knew I would be spit up or barfed on with a moment’s notice. Now that the kids are a bit older, I don’t feel guilty splurging a bit more. I’m a stickler for soft fabrics though. This new Cusco t-shirt from Prana is so gorgeous!
I also love the Boden t-shirts. They look great with casual shorts or dressed up with a skirt. The Uplifting tee is very colorful. I’ve always adored their unique patterns and colors.
4. A great beach/pool bag. For practical purposes, I’m a loyal user of the Dino Bag by Scout. Every season, the patterns change. These can even be hosed down and dried in the sun when they get dirty!
For more “me” purposes, I’m coveting this new Metallic bag from Stella & Dot, which is so popular it’s currently out of stock. I love the clean lines and neutral color with a bit of sparkle.
If I can’t get my hands on that, I might go for something like this.
5. Fabulous flip-flops and sandals. This is a category in which at least 3 are needed! I like to have basic, super comfortable, and more stylish sandals on hand at all times.
Basic: Always my go-to, the forever loved Reefs. In my opinion, no other flip-flop competes here. Throw in the built-in bottle opener, and you’ve got it made.
Super comfortable: Last year I went with Fit Flops. I liked them, but they are so bulky. This year, I’m buying these Birkenstocks because my arches ache after I go running, and these feel great on my feet. They are by far the most supportive shoes I’ve ever worn!
Stylish: Two words- Tory Burch. You cannot go wrong with the Miller leather flat except that if you truly plan to splurge on them you might want to hide your receipt. I LOVE them and am trying to justify a new pair!
6. Nice sunglasses. Your eyes deserve the best. Good lenses make a big difference. I’m thinking about this classic pair from Ray Ban.
Or maybe these? Boy, am I dreaming! These are awesome though!
Go shopping! Once summer (finally) arrives, you will be ready!
