Hadley marched in her first parade yesterday. On our way home, she spotted this car. “Mummy, I love this car. Someday I will drive a car like this.” I giggled a bit, and she insisted, “No, mom, really. I will. I love it.”
I love this girl. At six, she lights up the world every day with her spunk, spirit, and smile. Later in the day, she dressed herself for a casual afternoon barbecue. She came down in a dress, leggings, and black patent leather shoes. I asked her several times if she wanted to change, or at least swap out the shoes for flip-flops. Finally, sick of my badgering, she said tersely, “Mummy, it’s Memorial Day. You really should dress up to honor people.”
